The Central Region-Regional Development Implementation Coordination Committee (RDICC) held a meeting on 9th March, 2022 and thereafter carried out a project verification visit of Kerugoya-Kutus Water and Sewerage Project in Kirinyaga County.
A total of 422,240 people will benefit from the water supply project and the first of its kind sewerage project implemented by Tana Water Works Development Agency in Kirinyaga County.
Tana Water Works Development Agency Board Members on 12th April, 2022 also had a two-day inspection visit of Kerugoya Kutus Water Supply and Sewerage Project in Kirinyaga County.

Kerugoya-Kutus Water supply project is designed to improve access to safe, reliable water supplies and sanitation services. The project constitutes the intake works at Kiringa and treatment works at Muratiri. The works are as follows;
- Ongoing laying of GRP pipes from the main distribution from Muratiri treatment works to Githioro water tank
- Ongoing construction of 2000m³ Githioro water tank
- Water intake at Kiringa
- Construction of gabions at kiringa water intake
- Ongoing construction of 2000m³ clear water tank at Muratiri treatment works
- Ongoing construction of filter and filter gallery
- Ongoing construction of filter and filter gallery
- Work in progress at Muratiri treatment works
- Ongoing construction of Muratiri sedimentation pond treatment works
- Ongoing construction of 300m³ elevated water tank
- ongoing construction of 3000m³ Gakoigo clear water tank
- Ongoing construction of administration block
- Ongoing construction of staff houses
